Warehouse Picking System :

Barcode Logic supplies warehouse picking systems to the NSW Health department which allows orders for consumables to the picked accurately and speedily using barcode scanning mobile computers.

Orders for consumables are received into the picking system from the central Oracle database, and can be selectively loaded into mobile devices for picking.

The operator is shown the location and item to pick.

The quantity being picked is entered.

As orders are generated in Oracle, they are imported into the Picking system, and on demand, transferred to a PDT hand held unit. The PDT displays the location, item and quantity required to the operator. As the items are picked, the operator scans the location and item barcodes to confirm they are correct, and enters the quality picked.

Functions of the Picking System include :

  • Import and viewing of order (requisition) data from Oracle.
  • Location barcode label printing.
  • Item barcode label printing.
  • Selective loading of one or more orders to one or more scanners.
  • Picking of orders using the mobile computer by scanning of location and item barcodes and display of item details.
  • View the status of current orders.
  • Transmission of completed pick data back to Oracle.

Imprest System :

Barcode Logic’s Imprest systems use Datalogic Skorpio barcode scanning mobile computers to allow easy ordering of consumables for hospital wards and operating theatres. We have two Imprest systems, one specifically for NSW Health and one for SA Health which are the most commonly used in their respective states.

Barcode labels can be printed for each imprest location where consumables are stored, and for each item within that location.

To order supplies, the location barcode is scanned, followed by each item barcode, and the quantity required entered. The list of items required is then transmitted to the health departments main Oracle database for processing.

IMPREST Functionality includes :

  • Import and viewing of location and item data from Oracle (Description, min/max quantities, pack size etc.)
  • Location barcode label printing.
  • Item barcode label printing.
  • Scanning of item barcodes and display of item details.
  • Transmission of orders to Oracle.
